Last week, the City Council of Naples, Florida, voted unanimously to ban the use of gas-powered leaf blowers in the city at any time of year.

In addition to the community health hazards and disruptions to work and school that gas leaf blowers cause, the article shines a light on ineffective enforcement of the law as it currently stands. We would like to see a more proactive enforcement approach by the Township, along with stronger penalties for violations of the law.

This week, Montclair Councilor-at-Large Peter Yacobellis told The Montclair Times that gas leaf blowers are the number one issue he hears about from constituents. He and other Council members have begun discussing possible actions to address the town’s problem with the loud, heavily polluting machines.
