Electric-only lawn service company launches in Maplewood

This spring, a new company based in Maplewood will offer zero-emissions, low-noise lawn service using all electric-powered equipment. Green Wheels Lawn, a woman-owned local business, will be one of the first in the area to give residential customers a greener, healthier, and quieter alternative to landscapers who only use gas-powered leaf blowers and other equipment. In addition to a traditional service using electric tools, the company plans to offer a more ecologically-minded option that doesn’t involve leaf blowers of any kind for most of the growing season and adopts a “leave some leaves” approach in the fall to help build soil health, protect plants naturally, and preserve habitat for pollinators and other beneficial wildlife.

Green Wheels is starting small, and it’s not clear yet whether service will be extended to Montclair — this will depend on demand. Residents interested in learning more about the service should sign up for email updates on the website.
